NCC announces new fall start date

To better accommodate students’ ever-changing lives that continue to be impacted by the pandemic, Northampton Community College will delay the start of most of its fall classes to Aug. 31, one week later than the previously scheduled Aug. 24 date.

Due to academic requirements, seven programs will maintain an Aug. 24 start date including automotive technology, dental hygiene, diagnostic medical sonography, medical assistant, radiography, registered nursing and veterinary technician. Only students in these programs will begin classes Aug. 24 as originally planned.

With this change, the college is also extending the deadline for fall semester tuition payments to Aug. 24 (from Aug. 4) to give students as much time as possible to access financial aid and coordinate payment.

Enrolled students’ existing schedules will remain intact, with the first day of classes beginning Aug. 31. The additional week will allow many students (and their parents) who are still contemplating their college decision, time to complete the enrollment process, update financial aid information and better prepare for fall classes.

NCC’s fall break originally scheduled for Oct. 12-13 has been canceled as part of changes to the semester’s class schedule to allow for additional instruction time.

Students who plan to live in NCC’s residential halls and enroll in the automotive technology, dental hygiene, diagnostic medical sonography, medical assistant, radiography, registered nursing and veterinary technician programs will move into their rooms on Aug. 21- 23. All other students will move into their rooms on Aug. 28- 30.
