Palmerton Borough Council took time to thank the community's effort for The Moving Wall effort at Thursday's regular meeting.
Councilman Richard Nothsteinthanked all those involved with the Wall's display.The half-size replica of the Washington, D.C., Vietnam Veterans Memorial has been touring the country for over 30 years and was displayed in the borough park from July 21-25.It features the names of 58,000 people who were killed during the Vietnam War, including Palmerton natives Spc.Neal Bollinger and Pfc. Clifford Sell."Our community came out in droves."They came every day, with community members coming back in 90-plus degree heat," Councilwoman Holly Sells said.Nothstein commended numerous parties who helped to set up the wall, including Palmerton Area High School football players."Many of the people who visited the wall said it's the best one they've been to," Nothstein said.
