Pa. virus update: 849 new cases, 121,130 total cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of midnight Wednesday that there are 849 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 121,130. There are 7,385 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 33 new deaths reported.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 20,119 resident cases of COVID-19, and 4,186 cases among employees, for a total of 24,305 at 887 distinct facilities in 61 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,012 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here.

Approximately 8,749 of our total cases are among health care workers.

Carbon County has added five cases for a total of 337, with 28 deaths.

In Lehigh County there are 5,022 cases, an increase of 30 cases, with 338 deaths.

In Luzerne County, there are 49 additional cases, bringing the total to 3,526. There are 184 deaths.

In Monroe County, there are eight additional cases, bringing the total to 1,650. There are 124 deaths.

Northampton County has 12 new cases for a total of 3,956. There are 293 deaths.

Schuylkill County has 928 cases, an increase of six. There are 51 deaths.
