A Palmerton man who was found naked and waving a white towel is headed to Carbon County Court.

Corey Perich, 35, of Palmerton, faces charges on one count each of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, harassment, criminal mischief, defiant trespass, resisting arrest, persistent disorderly conduct and open lewdness.Perich waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton, and will appear Aug. 2 for a pretrial conference at the Carbon County Courthouse.He remains free in lieu of $25,000 bail.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Brian White of the Palmerton Police Department:At 6:38 p.m. June 26, White was dispatched for an assault in the 900 block of Mauch Chunk Road.The offender, Perich, had a .25-caliber handgun and assaulted the caller.White was told by dispatch that Perich attempted to throw something to a passer-by on a motorcycle.White and patrolman Trevor Flexer arrived in the parking lot of Cindy's Rusty Nail to see Perich, naked, waving a white towel.They approached Perich, and ordered him to the ground, at which time Perich began to yell at both officers and would not comply.After police told Perich they were going to use a stun gun, Perich laid on his back. White told Perich twice to roll over on his stomach and place his hands behind his back.When White applied one handcuff to his right wrist, Perich rolled back over onto his back.Perich pulled his right arm close to his body, tensed up, and began to stand up. He started to scream and yell at the officers.White deployed his stun gun, hitting Perich in the back.Perich was finally subdued and handcuffed. EMS arrived and transported him to Palmerton Hospital.Planned to shoot groundhogsWhite spoke to the homeowner, who said Perich rang his front door bell and said that he was going to shoot the groundhogs, and that he had a .25-caliber Colt handgun.The man told Perich he was not going to shoot the groundhogs. Perich to pushed his way into the victim's residence, causing the front door screen to break.Perich began yelling about the FBI and his GI Bill.Perich handed him three .25-caliber rounds and laid the gun on the victim's lap, telling him that he could use it against him, but he won't right now.Perich walked into the kitchen and started throwing the kitchen table and chairs. He broke the Formica counter.Perich walked into the living room and jumped up on the victim's walker and started to yell and scream again, before he jumped off the walker and on top of the victim, who was seated on the couch.He began punching and striking the victim "relentlessly," causing a large bruise by the man's left eye, a deep laceration inside his mouth that was bleeding profusely, and other scratches and marks on his face, head and neck.The man said he pushed Perich out of the house and called police.Once outside, Perich started to take his clothes off and walk down the center of the roadway.The victim said he saw Perich attempt to lunge at the motorcycle.
