The Schuylkill County Election Bureau could have a new director soon.
Interviews will be conducted shortly for the position vacated by former director Frannie Brennan, who retired in June, County Administrator Gary Bender said Wednesday.
He said four county residents applied for the position. Commissioners will approve someone before the presidential election on Nov. 3, he said.
Brennan had been director since Jan. 1, 2009. She was a longtime county employee.
“She was very good at getting people to work the polls,” Bender said.
In other related election news, commissioners voted Wednesday to extend the position of Christine Marmas, lead clerk, a position held since April 13, until further notice. Marmas is in charge of the office until someone is hired as director, Bender said.
