Lehighton may make changes to its garbage contract.

Borough secretary Brenda Kreitz informed borough council on Monday of the issue.

“This is a nightmare every Friday,” Kreitz said. “We still have issues with residents.”

Kreitz said the borough’s five-year garbage contract with County Waste LLC is set to expire at the end of this year.

Councilman Ryan Saunders then chimed in on the situation.

“I’ve had nothing but problems,” Saunders said.

Kreitz said the situation only continues to get worse.

“This is a nightmare every week,” she said.

Saunders said he will review the situation with Kreitz.

Kreitz said that since the contract is coming to an end, it’s best to review things in case any revisions are needed to either the garbage contract or garbage ordinance.
