Park concert

This Sunday’s Concert in the Borough Park Bandstand will be by the Steel Creek Band. All concerts begin at 7 p.m. Please bring a lawn chair, and masks and social distancing are required. No smoking is allowed in the park. In case of bad weather, the concert will be canceled.

On Aug. 16 the concert will be by the Palmerton Band.

Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Bowmanstown is holding one combined service each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There are now four options of worshipping: Worship in the sanctuary, must wear a mask, have temperature check, and social distancing required; worship in Leah’s Room with the same rules as sanctuary and must keep mask on at all times as you watch the live service on a huge screen; you may worship in the parking lot and tune to 104.3; or you may join on Facebook Live. All services are led by Pastor Rob Timlin Sr. except for Aug. 9, the guest speaker will be Pastor Lee Adams.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is “Prayer & Praise Service” with the same options of worshipping.

August’s Mission is “Peaceful Knights,” the not-for-profit corporation formed to help those in need to have temporary, safe shelter and access to local organizations that provide assistance. Please consider a gift to this wonderful organization. Just drop off your gift at the church.

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church

Sunday worship services at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, will be held in the picnic grove at 9 a.m. Bring your lawn chair and face mask. Social distancing will be followed. In case of inclement weather, services will be posted on Facebook.

Takeout meal

WELCA of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, will be holding a takeout meal sale on Aug. 19 from 4-6 p.m. Meal includes barbecue with roll, filling with gravy, and carrots. The cost is $7 a meal. This will be a curbside pickup at the entrance to the church. To order ahead, call 610-681-5200 Tuesday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Collect aluminum cans

The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, Little Gap Road, has a trailer at the company grounds to collect aluminum cans and crushed cans.

The Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville, also has a beverage can shed and is looking for your empty aluminum cans. There are two deposit slots: one for crushed cans and one for uncrushed.

Nearly New Shop

The Nearly New Shop, 225 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They have a store full of clothing, shoes and treasures. You must wear a face mask to enter.

Donations are accepted during hours that they are open.

Palmerton Borough

The Palmerton Borough Office is open for business Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Masks are required to enter the building.

The borough has resumed the street sweeping program. Signs are posted on streets indicating the parking restrictions, so remember to check your sign and remember the date your street is to be cleaned.

Cars should be moved between the hours of 7 and 8 p.m. the evening before your scheduled sweeping day. The police department will not be ticketing, with the hope residents will cooperate so the Public Works Department can pass through easily with the street sweeping machine.

Kids for the community

Kids for the community will be hosting a toy drive Aug. 10-14 from 5-7 p.m. each evening outside Country Harvest. Please donate new toys to give children a better Christmas season.

Eastern Car Show

The Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton will host the Eastern Car Show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All years, makes and models are welcome. Will have prizes and a raffle. There will be breakfast, lunch and drinks available for purchase.
