Tamaqua, Jim Thorpe men among 7 sentenced
Three area people were among seven sentenced on criminal charges by President Judge William E. Baldwin in the Schuylkill County Court.
Gino A. Cicioni, 44, of 88 Cumberland Avenue, Tamaqua, entered guilty pleas to charges of possession of an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was given credit for time spent in the Schuylkill County Prison since July 27 and was placed on parole for 12 months. He must pay $100 to SAE (Substance Abuse Education) fund, $59 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, a $50 monthly fee for each month on probation and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.The charges arose from an incident which occurred last April 15 in Boyer's Market parking lot. According to report filed by Patrolman Peter Wysochanskym, the arresting officer, when Tamaqua police arrived and confronted Cicioni, who had a gun, he ran into the store. Police called for the people to get down on the floor. Cicioni was then confronted by Chief Mattern who disarmed him.Joshua Carl Jones, 47, of 420 Center Avenue, Jim Thorpe, on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program instead of a prison sentence to serve six months on probation with the first 25 days on house arrest with electronic surveillance for which he must pay a $12 daily fee, followed by 35 days of strict supervision by the probation department, followed by four months regular probation.Jones must pay a fine of $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 Catastrophe fund, a $50 monthly probation fee when his house arrest is completed, attend alcohol highway safe driving school and receive outpatient treatment. His license is suspended 12 months and when restored, an ignition interlock will be installed on the wheel of his car for 12 months which monitors if he intends to drive after consuming alcohol. Jones was cited by Patrolman Charles Blesse, Coaldale Police.Casey Richard Snyder, 30, of 16 Clay Street, Tamaqua, on a DUI charge, was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program for six months with the first 15 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee, followed by 45 days of strict probation, followed by four months probation. He was also fined $1,000 and must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 Catastrophe fund, a $50 monthly probation fee, complete safety school, receive outpatient counseling and his driver's licenses is suspended for 12 months. Snyder was cited by Patrolman Thomas Duarte, Tamaqua Police.Melissa L. Currey, 27, Pine Grove, on a DUI charge, was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program for six months with the first 10 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring and must pay a $12 daily fee, followed by 50 days of strict probation and four months of probation. She was fined $500, and must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, a $50 monthly probation fee, and attend safety school and submit to random screens. Currey was cited by Patrolman Warren G. Firing, Schuylkill Haven PoliceTyrone Alexander Brown, 36, Bronx, New York, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and giving false identification to police. She was sentenced to 10 to 23-and-a-half months in the Schuylkill County Prison with credit for serve 342 days and must pay a $100 to SAE fund. Brown was cited by Patrolman Jeffrey R. Bowers, Minersville Police.Robbie Derrick Adcock, 39, Muir Village, Porter Township, on a DUI charge, was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison. When he completes the 48 hours, he is to be released on parole for six months. He was fined $500, and must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, a $50 monthly probation fee, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center and receive outpatient treatment.On a summary charge of following another car too closely, he was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Adcock was cited by Sargent Jeffrey Futchko, Pine Grove Police.Michael E. Maffeo, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of theft of electrical services provided by the borough's electric company and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, received credit for spending two days in the county prison and was placed on parole for 18 months. He must pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, a $50 monthly probation fee and make restitution of $763.61 to the borough, $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $50 to district attorney's office for cost of a bench warrant. Maffeo was cited by Patrolman Vincent J. McDonald, Schuylkill Haven Police.
