A look back: July 28, 1993

Lehighton school directors on Monday passed a resolution approving the same of the Packerton building to the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit for $48,000.

The IU, which had been leasing the building for $1 a year, will pay $12,000 annually for four years, beginning in 1993-94. In addition it will pay $2,880 to cover the real estate selling costs.

Under the agreement, the IU is to utilize the property for the same purposes as are presently being carried on. The Packerton building is used for the IU’s Carbon Learning Adjustment School for emotionally disturbed students.
