Lansford organization offers prize to fill out U.S. census

Lansford Alive is reminding residents of the cost of not filling out the census.

In 2010, Lansford missed out on $1,000,000 in federal funding over the decade because 59 people living in Lansford were not counted in the census.

“Money that could have repaved streets, improved parks and playgrounds, and so much more. We can’t be undercounted again!” the group said in a news release.

To thank people for responding to the census Lansford Alive is holding a drawing for a $500 prize. Everyone who completes the census can enter the drawing.

To enter the drawing do any of the following:

• After completing the census online a confirmation page will be displayed. Email this page to LansfordCensus@gmail.com, along with your name and phone number.

• If you can’t do that text a picture of the confirmation page, along with your name and phone number to 570-516-8241.

• If you answer the census with a paper form text a picture of the first page, along with your name, address and phone number to 570-516-8241.

• If you can’t go online, or have other difficulties completing the census, text “Please Help with the census” to 570-516-8241 and someone will call you back and complete the census online for you.

It might take a few days for someone to get back to you.

• If you have already completed the census, just complete the census again online. You will be given the confirmation page. Your duplicate entry will simply not be counted by the census.

For further information check in on the Lansford Alive Facebook Page.

“We all want to make Lansford a better place. $1,000,000 over the coming decade will go a long way in helping to do that. Please make sure you complete the 2020 Census and enter our thank you drawing for your chance at the $500 prize,” the group said in the release.

This project was financed in part by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania acting through the Department of Community and Economic Development.
