ACS Chinese auction, basket raffle to be held

The American Cancer Society Chinese auction and basket raffle will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

The event, which was postponed from March, will be held at Lakeside Ballroom, Route 54 in Barnesville.

The committee has planned for social distancing during the event.

Browsing the hundreds of items in the auction will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The auction will then begin at 2:30 p.m. You do not need to be present to win.

Once the drawing begins, those who wish to say can hear the numbers announced in the ballroom on a radio frequency that guests can listen to from the convenience of your car in the ballroom parking lot.

Top prizes on the specially purchased “white ticket” include $1,000 cash, Dell Inspiron Laptop, drone with video and GPS, Disney Hopper passes, three gaming systems that include Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One S Bundle, Apple Watch, gift cards, wine collection, fuel, lottery tickets, Penn State memorabilia and much more.

Credit cards are accepted. Masks must be worn inside the building.

Another convenience this year is that all tickets including major prized white tickets, special prize red tickets, 50/50 tickets and regular prize Chinese Auction tickets are available for purchase online.

In addition to the auction, there will be food available for sale, including individually wrapped selections with socially distanced seating and take outs available.

Prize pick up is slated for after the auction and on July 27 and 28 at the Ballroom.

All proceeds will be presented at the annual American Cancer Telethon scheduled for Aug. 1 and 2.

The telethon, which will run from noon to midnight each day, will be broadcast live on BRC-TV 13, Service Electric and Pottsville Comcast TV.
