The West Penn Township Lions recently sent out their annual donations to local organizations.

Donations included: West Penn #1 Fire Company $1,000, West Penn Township Community Park $1,000, West Penn Township Lioness Club $500, Penn Mahoning Ambulance $1,000, Boy Scouts of America, Clamtown $350, Salvation Army $500, Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center $300, Tamaqua Public Library $500, West Penn Community 4-H Club $200.

The Spring Hero presentations are usually a part of the Spring Chicken barbecue which is held at the West Penn Park the first Saturday in June.

However, due to COVID-19 the event was canceled.

The West Penn Lions are planning to have their Fall Chicken barbecue on Sept. 12 at the West Penn Park.

The event is still under the planning phase; however, at this time the event will be a drive-thru type of service.

The same great meal will still be offered and provided in a safe manner for everyone to enjoy.
