The Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary announced this year's Buddy Poppy court.

The Buddy Poppy Queen will be Sophia Simchak, and her court consists of Josephine Simchak, Marissa Lilly and Cienna Padora. The Buddy Poppy King is Ethan Lilly. Jesse Ellis will be his court.The annual Buddy Poppy May Days at Redner's Markets will be Fridaythrough Sunday. The Buddy Poppies are made by disabled veterans, and the cost the organization pays for them goes to the disabled veterans and to support the VFW National Home in Grand Eaton, Michigan. This home is open to all veterans and their families in their time of need, and receives no government support. It is supported only by the VFW and the auxiliaries.Proceeds from the poppies are used to support local and department programs, and veterans in need.
