A Carbon County man admitted on Tuesday in the county court to assaulting another man with a wooden club.

He entered a guilty plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Nesquehoning incidentIzael Flores,19, of Nesquehoning pleaded to one count of aggravated assault for an incident on Nov. 20, 2015, in the 200 block of East Center Street in Nesquehoning.Borough police said Flores struck Patrick Conklin with a wooden club, breaking the victim's arm. No reason was stated for the assault. Flores is currently an inmate in the county prison on a probation violation.Matika told Flores under state sentencing guidelines, in the standard range, he faces a minimum prison term of 12 to 18 months, meaning it could be a state prison term.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Points gunJonathan Puppo,26, of Summit Hill, and formerly of Lansford, pleaded in three pending cases, including pointing a handgun at a sheriff deputy.Puppo pleaded guilty to one count each of aggravated assault, theft by deception and criminal trespass.He was arrested on the assault count for an incident on Nov. 3, 2014, along East Patterson Street. Sheriff's deputies were attempting to arrest him on a warrant when he pulled a handgun from a bag and pointed at the deputies, who drew their weapons. A female, not identified, intervened by getting in front of Puppo and telling him to put the weapon down, which he did, and he was taken into custody.He was charged with the theft by deception charge by state police at Lehighton for taking money from a Towamensing Township family to do work at their residence and never did the work.The trespass incident occurred on Sept. 28, 2014, in Lansford. Two males entered a home in the borough seeking money. They fled when the two female residents yelled for help. Puppo was one of the males.Matika told Puppo under sentencing guidelines, and based on his prior record, he faces a prison term at the time of sentencing, and it could be a state prison term. Puppo is currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered a PSI be prepared by the adult probation office.
