State police at Frackville reported on two crashes probed by troopers this week in Schuylkill County.
A one vehicle crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, along SR924 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Thomas J. Kehl, 22, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta too fast for conditions on the wet road and entering a right hand curve. He did not slow down enough to negotiate the curve, troopers said, with the car continuing straight across the south lane and onto the berm. The car struck a dirt embankment, continued over the embankment and struck a PennDOT directional arrow sign. It then continued straight and traveled about 70-feet into a wooded area where it came to rest facing northwest.Kehl was not injured. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed. The second crash occurred on Thursday, Nov. 1, about 11:47 a.m. along Ringtown Blvd., just north of Pattersonville Rd., in Union Township. Troopers said Geraldine Campanicki, of Ringtown, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck southbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. The truck struck the deer, which went onto the hood and partway through the windshield. The deer then ran off, leaving a five-point antler in the front passenger seat.Campanicki was not injured. The truck had to be towed from the scene.
