The Marian Catholic High School, Barnesville, on Saturday launched the Class of 2014 amid a flurry of awards, honors and scholarships.

The graduation ceremony was the first in which Allentown Diocese Bishop John O. Barres, along with Principal Sister Bernard Agnes, handed the 91 students their diplomas.

"There will be complex situations, that you'll address. At that time, it will so important that you be a man and a woman of communion, a man and woman of peace," he said.

The class salutatorian was Michael J. Dino.

Marian's "faculty and administration have given us that starting point through a faith-driven education to begin our lives. Now, it is our job to take that foundation we have so generously been given, and build our lives upon it," he said.

Valedictorian was Tara V. Koskulitz.

"When we look back, we will see that all of our experiences at Marian have made us better people. We will see that we learned that with faith, you can make it through anything, and that any struggles or mistakes which have come our way have only made us stronger," she said.

The Class of 2014 is an accomplished one. The graduates have been offered a total of $5.1 million in scholarships and grants; 96 percent of the class will continue their educations.See complete coverage in the upcoming Times News graduation tab.
