Franklin Twp. officer honored

A Franklin Township police officer has been commended for his service to the community.

Patrolman Jason Doll was recently recognized as Law Officer of the Year by the Shoemaker-Haydt American Legion Post 314 of Lehighton.As part of his recognition, Doll received a plaque in recognition of his outstanding service and commitment to the community from Harry J. Wynn III, Post 314 finance officer, and Floyd Brown, post 314 past commander.Additionally, Doll was given a law enforcement certificate for his outstanding public service on behalf of the commonwealth, state and nation from the legion.Doll, who has been with the township police department for the past 12 years, said he "appreciated" the distinction."It's nice to be recognized for doing your job," Doll said. "It's nice to get a pat on the back."Doll credited the township's police department as a whole, which consists of eight officers four full-timers and four part-timers."I'd like to say that we're busy for a small department," he said. "It shows that you are out there doing what you can."Doll said he tries to wear as many hats as possible within the department."I think I'm real good with public relations," he said. "I have good interaction with the citizens of the township."Doll said the department appreciates the public's support."We appreciate the interaction with the public," he said. "They are what we're here for."
