Shenandoah man sentenced

A Shenandoah man arrested by Tamaqua police for drug crimes was sentenced to four to 23 months in Schuylkill County prison.

Daquawn King, 25, was arrested on June 1, 2013, and charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana.Prosecutors dropped charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a small amount of marijuana in a plea deal.Judge James Goodman sentenced King on May 1 on the remaining charges, with the sentences to be served at the same time.In addition to the jail time, King must also pay court costs and fees and pay $113 to the state crime lab. He was given credit for the eight days he had already served.In other Schuylkill court news, Judge D. Michael Stine denied prosectors' request to revoke the bail of a Tuscarora man.Jason DeMarco's bail will remain at $25,000 unsecured as previously imposed.Tamaqua police charged DeMarco on Sept. 11, 2013, for repeatedly harassing another person on Aug. 24, 2013, and on Oct. 28, 2013.In the first case, DeMarco was charged with two counts of harassment. One of the counts was dismissed and the other was bound over for court. Bail was modified to $5,000 unsecured.The second set of charges also included two counts of stalking, harassment, disorderly conduct and reckless driving, which were held for court trial. Charges of reckless endangerment and harassment were dismissed.
