Vehicle stop leads to drug arrest

A vehicle stop by McAdoo police led to the arrest of a passenger in the vehicle.

Police said about 9 p.m. on June 14 they stopped a vehicle for driving without lights on after sunset. A passenger in the vehicle as identified as Tracy McAloose, 49, of Vandling, Lackawanna County. It was learned that there was an active warrant for her arrest for retail theft issued to state police at Hazleton.

She was taken into custody on the warrant. During a search of her purse police recovered a small plastic bag with marijuana inside a cigarette pack. She also admitted to drinking a beer in the vehicle and police found a crumbled beer can in the backseat.

McAloose was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and restrictions of alcoholic beverages.
