The cost to eat in the Tamaqua Area School District will remain the same in the 2016-17 school year.

On Tuesday, the board's Finance Committee approved the 2016-17 cafeteria breakfast and lunch prices with no increase.Prices are $2.35 for elementary; $2.60 for secondary; $3.75 for adult; and $1.25 for breakfast.In other actionThe board's Finance Committee:• Established the Homestead/Farmstead Inclusion for the 2016-17 school year at $142, a reduction in assessed value of $4,257 for eligible properties per information provided to the district by the county assessment office.•Authorized the business manager to select the district's insurance package (lowest cost option of current program) for the 2016-17 fiscal year in the event final numbers are not available for the board's last meeting in June.•Approved the rebate, face and penalty period for Per Capita Assessed Occupation and Real Estate Tax for the 2016-17 fiscal year (2016 tax bills) as follows: Rebate, July to August, 2 percent; face, September to October; penalty, November to December, 10 percent.•Approved a one-year contract, from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017, with Leader Services of Hazleton to process transactions billed through the Access Program.•Appointed Balfour Yearbooks as the publisher for the 2016-17 school year at a cost of $16,788.•Approved the composite, self-pay and COBRA rates effective July 1.•Appointed M & T Bank as the district's depository for the 2016-17 fiscal year.•Approved the repository sale for a parcel at 421 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, for the price of $2,161 offered by Danielle C. McCully and Gabrial V. Kries of Bernville.The board's Auxiliary Committee:• Approved the Tamaqua Area Booster Board to apply for the 2016-17 Small Games of Chance License through the Schuylkill Treasury Department, and monitored by the Athletic Department.•Approved the "Pay to Participate" fee at $30 for the first sport, $20 for the second sport, and $10 for the third sport for the 2016-17 school year. A decrease in fee has been recommended due to an annual donation.•Approved the request of Roseann Weinrich, senior class adviser, to hold the 2017 prom at Capriotti's in McAdoo on May 6, 2017.The board's Education Committee:• ApprovedWeinrichto take the AP biology class to Chincoteaque Bay Field Station in Virginia. The trip is to be in late September or early October.•ApprovedWeinrichto take the honors biology class to the Bronx Zoo in New York.
