St. Jerome's Regional School in Tamaqua has announced its list of activities for the 2016 edition of Catholic Schools Week, which will be held from Jan. 31 through Feb. 5. This year's theme is "Catholic Schools - Communities of Faith, Knowledge, Service."

On Sunday,the school community kicks off the week with a breakfast buffet, from 7:30 to 11 a.m., followed by an open house from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Visitors will be able to tour the classrooms, science and computer labs, the early childhood center and the Lion's Den Physical Fitness facility.Monday's activities will include a special morning prayer for the community at 9:30 a.m. in St. John XXIII Catholic Church and a special story hour from 1 to 3 p.m., where students in grades seven and eight read to the younger students.Grandparents are invited to attend a continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, then prepare to be entertained at 10:15 a.m.A special liturgy and morning prayer for the nation will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday.School Spirit Day is Thursday. Students will be allowed to dress in the school colors (red/white/black) and the Home and School Association will provide free lunches and ice cream treats.Friday will be Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day. These special people at SJRS will be treated to a special luncheon.The week will also include a number of registration opportunities for the 2016-17 school year. Registration dates and times will be: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 1 to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, 4 to 6 p.m.; and Friday, 9 to 11 a.m.St. Jerome Regional School is a Christ-centered Catholic School open to all, serving the parishes of St. John XXIII, All Saints, St. Richard and surrounding parishes.
