Country Harvest Family Market announces scholarship winner

Country Harvest Family Markets, through its partnership with Great Valu Supermarkets, has awarded its fourth-annual Great Scholarships for Great Students scholarship to Courtney Getz, daughter of Richard Jr. and Yvette Getz, of Palmerton.

The independent owners of Great Valu Supermarkets underwrite the Great Scholarships for Great Students program, which has awarded nearly $300,000 in scholarships to date. It is through this scholarship program that Country Harvest Family Markets recognizes the commitment of high school students to their education and communities. The Great Scholarships for Great Students Program enables deserving high school seniors to receive a $1,000 scholarship to help defray the costs of their post-secondary educations. The program is managed by Great Valu's Scholarship Committee, which selected the winner. The applicants represented a broad cross section of outstanding seniors from the lower Carbon County and northern Lehigh County areas, making the final scholarship recipient selection quite difficult. The final selection was based on a variety of considerations, including academic standing, grade-point averages, extra-curricular activities and individual student life challenges.Country Harvest actively supports the scholarship program as a means to strengthen commitments to the communities they serve.Getz plans to attend West Chester University in the fall to major in Medical Technology. Country Harvest Family Markets congratulates Getz on a job well done and wishes her the very best in her future educational pursuits.
