A Palmerton couple admitted in Carbon County court on Thursday to dealing drugs out of their home.

Marie D. Ostrander, 24, and Justin E. Ostrander, 30, entered guilty pleas before Judge Steven R. Serfass. Marie Ostrander pleaded to criminal use of a communication facility while her husband pleaded to a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.The two were arrested following an investigation by the state police of Hazleton vice unit. The troopers set up controlled buys from the couple using a confidential informant. After sales were made a search warrant was executed on their home. Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $516 in cash were found.Marie Ostrander told the court she and her husband were "smokers" of marijuana for a period of time. She said, "I'm very sorry for what I did. We made changes in our life."She said she and her husband have stopped smoking.Matthew Rapa, defense attorney for Justin Ostrander, told the court, "They were more users than sellers."Attorney Paul Levy, representing Marie Ostrander, told the court that the two have no prior criminal records of any kind and are working on getting their lives back on track.In a plea bargain with the district attorney's office, several other counts of possession with intent and possession of controlled substances were dropped.Serfass told the two they were receiving a break from the commonwealth in allowing them to plead to the charges and the recommendation of a probation period. He warned both that if they violated the terms of their sentence in any way, they could face jail time and that could be in a state prison.Both were placed on probation for three years and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, zero tolerance imposed for drug and alcohol use, each pay court costs of about $1,000, supply a DNA sample, each pay a $50 monthly supervision fee while on probation and each render 150 hours of community service.
