Mahoning Township Supervisors reorganize for 2020

The Mahoning Township Board of Supervisors voted to organize Monday evening.

Bruce Steigerwalt was unanimously appointed chairman, while Robert Slaw was appointed vice chairman. Natalie Haggerty was reappointed as secretary-treasurer.

Thomas Nanovic will serve as township solicitor.

The board approved a 50-cent pay raise for Haggerty, which results to an hourly rate of $24. Township clerk Barbara Kester was given a 32-cent raise, bringing her hourly rate to $15.23. Also, township roadmaster Nevin Fry’s salary was raised to $26.15 per hour.

Gabriel Szozda and Joel Gulla were appointed part-time police officers with the pay rate of $22.50 per hour which remains from last year.

In 2020, supervisor meetings will be held the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Planning commission meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Zoning hearing board meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., as needed.

Other appointments made during the meeting:

• Carl Faust, zoning officer, $500 per month.

• Part-time winter road crew workers, $18 per hour.

• Encroachment officer, Nevin Fry.

• Sewage enforcement officer and stormwater management, Scott Bieber.

• Chief administrative officer, Bruce Steigerwalt.
