Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:
• Agreed to sign the sewage facility module component 3 regarding the Blocker/State Road property contingent upon board Chairman Jason Frey receiving a satisfactory response that it will not jeopardize the township.
• Approved the pre-application and cost estimate of $81,100 for the 2020 Fiscal Year Community Development Block Grant for the continuation project consisting of the Phase 2 reconstruction of Red Hill Road to alleviate the poor condition of the road, retroactive to the May 29, 2020, application deadline.
• Approved the renewal of the junkyard permit application for Lehighton Scrap Recycling.
• Denied officer Michael Fedor’s request for heart & lung benefits.
• Tabled the appointment of a new zoning hearing board member.
• Granted the Franklin Township STORM (fast pitch team) permission to use Christman Ballfield from June 15 through Aug. 26.
• Approved a declaration of disaster - COVID-19 - until July 21.
• There will be a change in the garbage collection for the July Fourth holiday, as the Friday, July 3, garbage will be collected on Thursday, July 2.
• The E-Cycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon (or until the truck is full) July 11.
• The township’s administration office is now open to the public. Masks are still required upon entering the office until further notice. For those who do not have a mask, there will be masks and hand sanitizer available when they enter the building.
