Night of the Arts at Tamaqua MS
The Tamaqua Area School District will host its annual Night of the Arts event on April 30.
The event includes the Tamaqua Middle School Spring Art Show and the Spring Chorus Concert.Artwork created by students in grades six, seven and eight will be on display in the hallways around the Tamaqua Auditorium from 7 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the 7:30 p.m. concert featuring the High School Jazz Chorale and Concert Choir and the Middle School Select/General Chorus.The Middle School General Chorus will open the program with "Amani Utupe" followed by "Peaceful River," "On an Eagle's Wing" and close their set with the pop song "Some Nights."The Middle School Select Chorus will open its set with "A Festive Alleluia," followed by "Pie Jesu" and finish with the Garth Brooks classic "The River" and Kelly Clarkson's smash hit "Stronger."The Jazz Chorale will take the stage next, singing a wide variety of musical styles and selections.The chorale will begin with "Hear My Prayer" and then sing two jazz standards "Blue Skies" and "The Way You Look Tonight."The women of the chorale perform next, singing "All About That Bass," while the men of the chorale will sing "Rhythm of Love." The set closes with "Another Bridge to Cross."The Concert Choir will close the program with "Bohemian Rhapsody" and a medley of songs from the "Disney Dazzle Collection." The medley includes songs from "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Little Mermaid." Several soloists will be featured.Accompanists for the choirs, which are all under the direction of John Buglio, are Antonetta Gerace, Claire Lewis, Olivia Lattanzi Patrick McMullen, Sierra Petrucci and Faith Roberts.The art show is being organized by middle school art teacher Kim Woodward.There is no admission to the art show. Concert tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
