Individuals, businesses and organizations that seek to raise their standard of leadership should plan to attend an event that will be hosted in Tamaqua.

Leadercast Live 2016, a daylong leadership development event simulcast live from Atlantawill be hosted locally for the first time by the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.The event will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 6 at the Performing Arts Hall of the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua. Registration is at 7:30 a.m.Leadercast is a nationwide, one-day training event designed to equip attendees with leadership skills and knowledge, while also creating a desire within them to pursue greater growth and development.The theme of this year's event is Architects of Tomorrow.Speakers will include Kat Cole, group president of FOCUS Brands; Nick Saban, head football coach at The University of Alabama; Dr. Henry Cloud, acclaimed leadership expert, clinical psychologist and best-selling author; Rorke Denver, Navy SEAL commander and author; Andy Stanley, leadership author and communicator; Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Inc.; Chris Barez-Brown, author and creative guru; James Brown, network broadcaster, CBS Sports & News; and Tripp Crosby, comedian, director and host of Leadership 2016.Local speakers will include William Moyer, president of St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus; Patrick H. Reilly, CEO and president of Mauch Chunk Trust Company; Micah Gursky, Tamaqua Area Community Partnership; and Marlyn Kissner, executive director of Carbon Chamber and Economic Development.Leona Rega, coordinator of the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, said the Arts Center will be live-streaming the event, and has reserved 110 tickets."We have a lot of nonprofit organizations and small businesses, and I think we recognize the need for the development and training of leaders, and we wanted to make that possible and affordable within the local community," Rega said. "The Arts Center is very excited and honored to be a part of this event, and we look forward to the future."Rega added, "one of the unique abilities we have here is that a corporate sponsor can designate a local nonprofit group, where they recognize that there are people within that group that would like some leadership training, and they can send folks inside of their group to receive training."She said those who attend will receive helpful tips on personal leadership growth and growth of their team or organization; connect them to other leadership-oriented businesses and individuals; and will open opportunities to develop leadership skills; and to provide the community a life beyond what they thought they could achieve.Maureen Donovan, assistant director of Leadership & Workforce Training at Lehigh Carbon Community College, explained the significance of having the event available in Tamaqua."Having Leadercast in our area is an exciting opportunity for our local community to experience the inspiring stories of nationally recognized leaders," Donovan said. "We hope that by having Leadercast locally, it will open significant dialogue among our community leaders and encourage participants to accept civic responsibility and leadership roles."Donovan said the event is important for many reasons."As we strive to make our communities better, we can all benefit from the tools and inspiration provided by Leadercast," she said.
