Lehighton's community pool is providing local families with fun and amusement throughout the summer season.
The Baer Memorial Swimming Pool is open from noon to 7 p.m. every day of the week. Its season starts on Memorial Day weekend and ends on Labor Day. The pool boasts multiple slides and fountains as well as two smaller pools to go along with the main one.Samantha Cerimele, a lifeguard who has worked at the pool since its opening in 2009, has watched the public swimming destination grow over the years. "On a busy day, I'd say we get about 500 people here," Cerimele said. This year, the pool received an upgrade in the form of solar panels. The panels are attached to the roof of the pavilion, where they warm the water that runs through them.Food and drinks are offered at the pavilion, including french fries, chicken and ice cream.Daily admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children. Infants a year old or younger enter free.Free swim nights will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 30 and July 7.
