Weatherly Area Community Library to reopen

The Weatherly Area Community Library is reopening with patron service now that Carbon County has moved to the yellow phase. The library will be following directions and guidelines from the governor and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries on how we can reopen, Sue Ann Gerhard, President of the Library Board of Directors, said.

During this yellow phase period, our available hours will be: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, 2:30-5:30 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-noon.

Questions may be directed to the library during this time.

Books will be accepted through the outdoor book-return box. All returned library items will be quarantined for at least 72 hours before reshelving or being checked out to patrons.

Since the yellow phase of business requires social distancing, the library will also be changing services to limit physical contact between staff and the public. Due to continued social distance requirements, patrons will not be allowed into the library during the early stages of reopening.

When patrons are admitted into the library, long-term limits on how many people can be allowed in the library at one time will be enforced, how much in-person help staff can provide to patrons, the hours and days the library is open, as well as limited computer use for the public.

The facility will be following the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries regarding the offering of all these services.

Due to continued social distance requirements, there will be no scheduled in-person programs in the library at this time. This includes our Summer Reading Program. As things progress, future programs will be announced.

The Board of Directors request that you use the book-return box outside the library building to return your library items.

We miss seeing our patrons. However, please remember that we are not gone just because the building has been closed. We are all excited to return to the library and begin offering patrons access to our physical resources. Please feel free to call the library with questions and concerns.
