Lehigh man admits to indecent assault

A Lehigh County man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court on Monday to having sexual contact with a juvenile female.

Kristian A. Carwell, 20, of Germansville, pleaded to one count of indecent assault, a misdemeanor 1, for an incident on Nov. 18, 2019, filed by Palmerton police. In exchange for the plea, the district attorney’s office agreed to drop felony counts of aggravated indecent assault (two counts) and sexual assault and another misdemeanor count of indecent assault.

Palmerton police said the assault occurred in the 200 block of Delaware Avenue in the borough park, in a portable toilet.

In another case, Carwell pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance for an incident on Aug. 5, 2019, filed by Lehighton police.

Because the indecent assault charge falls under the provisions of Megan’s Law, sentencing was deferred so Carwell can submit to an evaluation by the state sexual offenders assessment board.

Carwell is an inmate in the county prison on the charges.
