The Franklin Township supervisors said on Tuesday that the new website is now in service.

Brenda E. Neeb, secretary/treasurer, said the site,

www.franklintownshipcarboncounty.com, became operable about a month ago.It lists the various township officials, contains meeting minutes, allows people to apply for moving permits and other township permits, has a calendar which lists events not only by the township but also by the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company and Franklin Township Lions Club, and has a photo gallery."People can view ordinances on the site," Neeb said.In other business• Neeb said the garbage collection scheduled for March 25 will occur on March 24 in the township.• The April meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. April 12, which is the second Tuesday of the month, instead of the third Tuesday because of the state township convention.• Heard complaints from a resident about the condition of the property at 1311-1313 Indian Hill Road, which was a former used auto parts sales lot.The resident said, "There's got to be at least 700 tires up there."The township's zoning officer, Carl Faust, interjected, "There's more than that."The supervisors said burning occurs in a pit on the site and included in the burns are cans, bottles and even oil filters."They were supposed to stop all burning of construction debris," Faust said.The supervisors said police have cited the property owner.Faust was critical of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for not getting involved."It's definitely a violation of the junk ordinance," he said."DEP is definitely dragging," said Rob Green, supervisors' chairman.Green said regarding the large accumulation of tires on the property, "I don't understand why DEP isn't getting involved more."Some township officials will visit the property later this week.• A complaint was also aired about a property on Main Road. Faust said he will send that property owner a letter to see if he will bring the residence to compliance to township codes.• No bids were received for the purchase of gasoline for the township. As a result, the supervisors agreed to purchase the gas at Frank's Service Center in Franklin Township.• Steve Gitch from Keystone Consulting Services was named Franklin Township's alternate sewage enforcement officer.• Joseph Cunningham was hired as a seasonal part-time worker for Phifer's Ice Dams Rentals.• Timothy Klotz was hired as an alternate/fill-in for seasonal positions.• The supervisors granted approval to Franklin Township Fire Company to hold an outdoor flea market on May 21.
