This year’s National Day of Prayer on Thursday will be marked in a slightly different way in Tamaqua than in the past.
For several years, people gathered at Tamaqua Borough Hall to offer their prayers for government, business, education and media. Then the event moved to the parking lot of Trinity United Church of Christ, which overlooks downtown Tamaqua and Five Points.
This year, several ministers are going online to lead prayers for the nation.
Pastor Kevin Roberts of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church will devote his noontime Facebook message to the National Day of Prayer.
Pastor Ed Noftz is planning an evening event from his living room which will be on the New Life Assembly of God Facebook page and website (www.newlifeag.us).
Pastors Cindy White of Zion Lutheran Church and Darryl Kensinger of Trinity United Church of Christ will lead prayers during a 9 a.m. webcast on Zion’s website at www.ziontamaqua.com, on YouTube and possibly Zion’s Facebook page.
Residents should check other congregations’ websites and Facebook pages for additional National Day of Prayer online events.
