Carbon County has been awarded an extra $159,506 in Community Development Block Grant funds to help the 18 nonentitlement communities in the county to prevent, prepare for and combat the coronavirus.

An additional approximately $64,000 will be sent to each of the five entitlement communities, which are Franklin and Mahoning townships and Palmerton, Jim Thorpe and Lehighton boroughs.
