Polk approves school lot subdivision

Monday night the Polk Township board of supervisors agreed to a plan that will permit the Pleasant Valley School District to proceed with its plans to sell the operations building.

The building, located at 6610 Interchange Road in Kresgeville, was used as a warehouse by the school district, but with the current trend to downsize the building is no longer needed."Where it is only a minor revision to the lot lines, the request goes only to the supervisors and not the planning commission," solicitor James Fareri said. The board voted to approve the change.The issue of the gypsy moth infestation in Monroe County was brought up by Supervisor Nancy May."Monroe County did not plan for a mass spraying this year," May said. "Residents are asked to contact Monroe County Environmental Planner Evan Makuvek at 570-517-3341 to report major infestations so that they can plan for next year."The supervisors also approved a motion to sign an agreement with a company to provide new township maps to residents. The company will use money from local businesses advertising to pay for the maps. The maps will be ready in about six months and will be mailed to residents.Township bills in the amount of $172,936.35 were paid.The supervisors approved Ordinance 2015-0,5 which validates the township's participation in the MRM Workers' Compensation Program. Chairman Brian Ahner said the township had been dropped by its previous carrier due to a number of claims that had been filed.The township will be proceeding with the installation of security cameras at the recycling center.
