Man apprehended after breaking into home and fleeing

A Monroe County man is facing multiple charges after breaking into a home, being confronted by the homeowner, fleeing and later being apprehended by police.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 3:07 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to 1167 Hunter Drive, Pocono Farms, in Tobyhanna Township, for a report of a burglary in process. On scene, officers spoke to the 75-year-old female victim who said the male had entered her home and was attempting to fight her disabled son, and threatened to kill both of them. He fled before police arrived.While at the first scene, police were told to respond to 106 Black Bear Lane for a report of a fight. At that residence police spoke to a male who said he had a fight with another male who left the house but was somewhere in the area.Police searched the area and found Kyle Caplette, 34, of 2305 Squirrel Circle, Tobyhanna, behind the home. He was intoxicated at the time. He was later identified by the elderly female in the first incident.Caplette was placed in a police cruiser to be transported to the police station. At this point he began to injure himself in the back of the cruiser. Police tried to restrain him from injuring himself and he began kicking and struggling with officers. Caplette was restrained for his safety and medically evaluated. He was then placed in the county prison pending arraignment.He has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass and aggravated assault, all felonies; misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and simple assault; and summary charges of public drunkenness, criminal mischief, harassment and disorderly conduct. He has since posted bail.
