Dollar General stores seem to be appearing overnight throughout Monroe and Carbon counties. The newest addition is rapidly taking shape along Route 209 in Kresgeville.
"We expect the grand opening to be sometime in October, barring any unforeseen construction delays," said Dollar General spokeswoman Katie Kile. "The store will be one of our standard-sized units, 7,300 square feet of retail space."According to Kile, Dollar General tries to place stores 3 to 5 miles apart with the hope of being within five minutes of a person's home."Dollar General prides itself on being a convenient shopping option," Kile said. "Why travel 20 minutes from your home when you can go five minutes and get the exact same item and hopefully get it at a better price."When asked why there are so many new stores, Kile replied that it is Dollar General's experience that their growth is usually an indicator that the area in which they are growing is itself growing and expanding.
