Thomas Tigue, who served 12 consecutive terms as a state representative in the 118th Legislative District, has died, the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home confirmed Monday.

Tigue retired in 2006 after his long legislative career. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, earning a Silver Star, and spent 27 years in the Marine Corps Reserve. In 2007, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Hall of Fame.During his legislative career in Harrisburg, he chaired the House Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee and was instrumental in establishing the Military Family Relief Assistance Program.His wife of 47 years, the former Dianne Tigue, passed away last year just weeks before the couple would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.Tigue represented a portion of the West End of Monroe County.Sen. John Yudichak served alongside former Tigue for nearly a decade in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives."Tom Tigue was a walking profile in courage, and the living embodiment of service above self," Yudichak said.
