A defendant who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges was sentenced on Monday in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic presided.Edwin James Wolfe, 52, of East Stroudsburg, and formerly of Albrightsville, was sentenced to serve six months to five years in prison.Wolfe was arrested on April 17, 2014, along Route 209in Towamensing Township, following a traffic stop. He was also cited for several motor vehicle code violations.A test revealed he was under the influence of a controlled substance.Wolfe attempted to tell Nanovic he was addicted to painkillers and was using oxycodone at the time and overmedicated. Nanovic immediately took issue with that claim, noting the blood test report indicate cocaine was also in his system at the time.Wolfe was sentenced on Feb. 27 in Monroe County court to a total of 150 days to 2 years in prison for impersonating a public official or officer. He also has charges pending in Bucks County.Nanovic also imposed zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use. On a driving under suspension charge he was fined $200 and costs.Nanovic ruled that term runs concurrent with the Monroe County sentence but began Monday, meaning Wolfe will finish his Monroe term in July and then continue with the remainder of the Carbon sentence.
