Chestnuthill Township residents have petitioned the Court of Common Pleas of Monroe County to fill the vacant position of constable.

In an order dated May 10, Judge Jonathan Mark set a hearing for July 5 at 10 a.m. in courtroom 3 of the Monroe County Courthouse. At that time the judge will make a decision on the request and applicants will be questioned under oath.Anyone interested in the position must meet eligibility requirements and submit a resume, a letter of interest, proof of residency and a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Certificate to court administrator Renee Danser by June 20.Applicants must also submit a signed and completed Background Investigation Form to the Monroe County District Attorney's Office, Detective Division. She and her husband, Bill Marks, who assisted his wife as a deputy constable, served in the position for 25 years. They were recognized by township supervisors and honored with a plaque upon their retirement.
