The Monroe County commissioners executed a contract with Tyler Technologies in the amount of $6,419,810 to conduct a countywide appraisal of all 103,000 properties in the county. The contract includes a licensing and service agreement to install new software for the Assessment Office, Tax Collectors and Tax Claim Bureau.

The software agreement is for five years and the software is proprietary to Tyler Technologies."We understand that this is a huge undertaking," said Chairman John Moyer. "But two-thirds of the residents are paying based on a wrong assessment of their property."Moyer said that the re-evaluations and appraisals will take the better part of three years and that he hoped it would be complete in time for the 2019 tax bills to be issued."You will be able to go online and see what everyone is paying," Moyer said. "Our goal is to make this as transparent as possible."
