First-grader named Little Miss Poppy

A first-grade student at Shull-David Elementary School was named the 2015-16 Little Miss Poppy by the Shoemaker-Haydt Unit 314 American Legion Auxiliary in Lehighton.

Lindsey Kuntz, 7, presented a poppy to Lehighton Mayor Tom Mase at the Legion.The daughter of Tracy Hawk and Howard Kuntz, Lindsey is involved in knee-high cheering, Lehighton Girl Scout Daisy Troop 33, Dance with Kim and soccer.Acording to LaRue Fritz, Shoemaker-Haydt Unit 314 second vice president and poppy chairman, the auxiliary will be accepting donations for the poppies at the Carbon Plaza Mall today and Saturday, and May 1-2.Donations go toward helping veterans, Fritz said.
