Man who fired paintballs at vehicles pleads

A Schuylkill County man who fired paintballs at vehicles along Interstate 80 in Carbon County entered a guilty plea on Tuesday in the county court.

Christopher Haldeman, 39, of Mahanoy City, pleaded to one count each of criminal mischief and driving while under suspension-DUI related.State police at Fern Ridge arrested Haldeman on June 25, 2015, in Kidder Township. Troopers responded to a report of vehicles being struck by paintballs. Troopers learned that Haldeman was shooting paintballs from his vehicle at others as he passed. He struck at least two vehicles. No one was injured.Haldeman is currently an inmate in the state correction institution at Camp Hill serving a six-month to five-year term imposed in Schuylkill County on a parole violation.Matika accepted the pleas and sentenced Haldeman to serve 30 to 60 days in a state prison on the suspension count, pay a fine of $500 and one-year license suspension. On the mischief count he was fined $150 and costs. He must also make restitution of $285.21 and pay court costs. He must serve the full 60 days. Matika ran the term concurrent with his present state prison sentence.
