Five defendants in drug-related cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Tuesday.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted pleas from the following:Drugs in jailDillon Friendy, 22, of Hazleton, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance-contraband by an inmate.He was charged by Nesquehoning police for an incident at the county prison on April 2. Police were called to the prison by corrections officers for an inmate found with illegal drugs.Police said Friendy was found to have the drugs concealed in one of his socks.Matika noted that based on his prior record, Friendy, in the standard range of state sentencing guidelines, faces a minimum prison term of between 12 and 18 months. "That means a state prison term," Matika said.Sentencing was deferred and Matika ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Drugs in homeJeffrey James Kaminitsky, 26, of Blakeslee, and formerly of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-cocaine.He was arrested by agents of the state attorney general's office, and county drug task force, who served a warrant on his then residence at 106 E. Holland St., Summit Hill, following an investigation that included controlled drug buys.Various drugs and drug paraphernalia including cocaine were found in the home.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a PSI.Other pleasOther defendants pleading to drug-related charges included:William Richard Anderson,41, of Shamokin, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-marijuana.He was arrested on July 27, 2015, following a vehicle stop along westbound Interstate 80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. A vehicle search recovered 590 grams of marijuana.Under sentencing guidelines, Matika told Anderson he faces a minimum of six months in prison at the time of sentencing.Sentencing was deferred.Peter Julio Rodriguez,27, of Yonkers, New York, pleaded to one count each of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on Nov. 21, 2015, following a vehicle stop on I-80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. Drugs were found in the vehicle and Rodriguez, who was a passenger, admitted the drugs were his.On the paraphernalia charge he was placed on probation for a year ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 50 hours of community service.On the possession of marijuana count he was fined $300.Negine Marte Wise,22, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.She was arrested on May 23, 2015, along Route 903 in the Pine Point Plaza parking lot by Kidder Township police. Police responded to the area of a carwash for a suspicious vehicle. She was in the vehicle where police found a pipe for smoking marijuana. A drug possession count was dropped.She was placed on probation for six months and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
