Thorpe man arrested in Thursday drug bust

A Jim Thorpe resident was arrested Thursday night following a drug bust at his Center Street residence in the borough.

Alfredo Russo Jr., of 425 Center St., Floor 2, is charged with two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and one count of criminal use of a communications facility.Police searched the residence and seized a "substantial amount of marijuana, packaging materials, electronic weight scales and cash," according to a report released Friday morning.Russo, 25, was not home at the time of the search, but turned himself in later Thursday night.Police said he is currently on probation for other offenses.According to court documents, he has a prior conviction of conspiracy to commit retail theft in Carbon County and was sentenced to one year of probation on Dec. 15, 2014.As of Friday morning, Russo was in Carbon County prison awaiting arraignment.
