Tamaqua Area High School band invited to Florida

Mickey and Minnie just can't get enough of the Tamaqua Area High School Raider Marching Band.

The award-winning contingent has been invited to another appearance at Disney World, and this time there will be no buses.If everything unfolds just right, the band will fly to Florida in 2017.The band has made appearances at Disney since the 1980s."The plans aren't finalized yet," said Carol Makuta, district superintendent, at Tuesday's board of education committee meeting.The band would travel to the Sunshine State on Feb. 14 and return on Feb. 18."They'll leave after school on the 14th," Makuta said.The planned trip is less than two years away and much must be done in the meantime."They have to start fundraising," Makuta said.The board will vote on the proposal at the next regular school board meeting.
