Palmerton High School blood drive
A late-season snow April 1 caused a two-hour delay at Palmerton High School, shortening the Miller-Keystone blood drive for students and staff. As a result, registration was limited to 44 potential donors, and 36 units of blood were collected.Ron and Gail Chabak were canteen attendants. The following National Honor Society students assisted: Erika Beers, Charles Debski, Lila Goodhile, Lauren Malik, Madison Mummey, Lyndsey Nemeth, Katy Parsons, Hannah Pepper, Mark Quinn, Kole Rodrigues, Gavin Scott, Vithusha Selva, Janel Tracy, Jaclyn Wood and Monica Wood.The next Miller-Keystone community blood drive will be May 4 at First United Church of Christ.Historical societyThe next general meeting of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will be 7 p.m. Monday in the Palmerton Library's Knight's Gallery.After a short business session, the speaker will be Samantha Gibbons, who will share the history of bobbin lace, a unique and time-consuming art. She will also display some samples of bobbin lace. The public is invited to attend.Window display honors Concourse ClubThe window display at the Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., honors the accomplishments of the Palmerton Concourse Club, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.The club is responsible for many improvements in Palmerton, particularly visible in the Borough Park. The club is open to any women in the community.Inside the center, the Feature Room continues to display antique toys. The center is open Wednesday through Saturday at various times.Call 610-824-6954 for a recording listing the hours each day. If you are passing by, try the door; if it is unlocked, someone is in the rear office and can show you around.Admission is free, but donations are accepted.Over 60 ClubThe Over 60 Club will meet at noon April 21 at Palmerton Borough Hall, 401 Delaware Ave.The program will be "As Dreams Come True" presented by Nick Hawkey.
