Defendants get probation

Schuylkill County judges on April 22 sentenced the following people charged by local police to probation:

President Judge William BaldwinElizabeth Ostrowski, 45, of Tamaqua: 12 months. She was charged by Tamaqua police with possession of drug paraphernalia on April 7, 2014.Michael Wimer, 25, of Tamaqua: 23 months. Baldwin also ordered him to perform 20 hours of community service. Wimer was charged by Tamaqua police with retail theft on May 5 and May 8, 2012.Jeremy Plasko, 37, of Tamaqua: 12 months. Plasko was charged by Tamaqua police with defiant trespass and disorderly conduct on May 11, 2014. The charge of disorderly conduct was dropped.Baldwin also sentenced Plasko to 12 months probation on charges of criminal trespass, defiant trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession on Aug. 22, 2014. Charges of criminal trespass and possession were dropped.Judge Charles M. MillerJohn L. Smith, 26, of Tamaqua: 12 months. Smith was charged by Coaldale police with criminal conspiracy, criminal attempt, giving false identification to law enforcement, and disorderly conduct on July 29, 2014. all but the criminal conspiracy were dropped.Dana McFadden, 23, of Summit Hill: 12 months. McFadden was charged by Rush Township police with possession of drug paraphernalia on May 25, 2014.Thomas Jacob Kehl, 24, of Tamaqua: 12 months. Kehl was charged by Rush Township police with criminal conspiracy, criminal attempt-theft by unlawful taking, possessing an instrument of crime, criminal mischief, and defiant trespass on April 23, 2012.Charges of criminal conspiracy, possessing an instrument of crime and defiant trespass were dropped.Kehl was also placed on 12 months probation on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief, driving with a suspended license filed by Tamaqua police on June 21, 2014. The charge of driving with a suspended license was dropped.Peggy S. Hill, 50, of Coaldale: 12 months. Hill was charged by Tamaqua police with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of a controlled substance.Charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility were dropped.Hill was also sentenced to 12 months probation, to be served concurrently, on the same charges, filed May 28, 2014. In that case, charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility were also dropped.James E. Gilson, 20, of Tamaqua: 12 months. He was charged by Tamaqua police with theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, and theft by unlawful taking. The charges of receiving stolen property, and theft by unlawful taking were dropped.Gilson was also sentenced to 12 months probation, to be served concurrently, on a charge of defiant trespass/actual communication filed by Tamaqua police on Aug. 15, 2014.
