The Zinc Corporation of America has begun a three-year plan to vegetate 125 acres of the cinder bank at the Palmerton Zinc Pile Superfund Site and manage water runoff from the pile.

ZCA is performing the work under a 1995 agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Pa. Department of Environmental Protection.Using vegetation technology known as Ecoloam, the project has three objectives: decrease the amount of water runoff from the Blue Mountain contacting the cinder bank, manage any water that does contact the cinder bank, and control erosion.
