A former Schuylkill Township supervisor questioned the current board Monday night about advertising a special meeting.

Christine Verdier of Mary-D, said she didn't think the board of supervisors abided by the Sunshine law regarding giving a 24-hour window to advertise an emergency meeting that was held last Saturday to approve the purchase of a plow truck.She also asked why the supervisors approved the purchase of an older model truck with higher mileage, rather than the one that was discussed at the March meeting that had only 9,000 miles on it.Chief of Police Frank DiMarco said he was at the meeting and he has expertise on vehicle mechanics, but Verdier insisted that she wanted the question answered by a supervisor who approved the motion to purchase the truck.DiMarco said the truck was in good condition, and that they needed to bid on it before the bidding window closed that Monday.Verdier also said tax collection is ongoing, but the treasurer's report is showing that the account balance is going down.Verdier also pointed out to the board that flowers should be sent to the Fayash family if it hasn't been done already.Township Supervisor Charles Fayash was on bereavement absence due to the passing of his father, former township Supervisor Andrew J. Fayash Sr.The board made a motion to increase the garbage fee in 2016. The new yearly rate was set to $172.
