Prothonotary’s report

Prothonotary Kayla M. Semmel released the statistical report of activities for her office for the month of February.

There were 325 cases started in the month with the following breakdown: civil actions, 46; court rules, 1; custody, 17; DJ appeals, 7; divorce, 16; ejectments, 2; license appeal, 7; mortgage foreclosures, 8; name change, 2; protection from abuse, 29; quiet title, 4; judgments, 171; miscellaneous, 1; TIP/WAIV liens, 14; modification of custody, 13; and writ of execution, 20.

The office staff also processed 78 new applications for U.S. passports and provided assistance to the public with 39 renewal applications.

Total income generated was $32,061.04; prothonotary fees, $26,059.35; custody/divorce fees, $1,520; data processing fees, $3,624.19; interest income, $5.10; PFA surcharge sheriff, $201.05; PFA surcharge courts, $149.95; and stenographer fees, $501.50.

In addition to the above fees, the office remitted to the county for the remote access fund for remote access fees of $2,100, remitted to the state department of revenue (fees collected on new cases) $5,176.73, and automation fund $939.75 - money collected for future automation and improvements to the office.

Credit defaults

The following actions were filed by credit card companies, or their collection agencies, for alleged defaults on credit card/loan accounts.

Citibank, Fort Washington, filed the following actions: Lydia E. Reyes, 18 Crazy Horse Trail, Albrightsville, seeking 2,088.30; and Anne M. Fritzinger, 1116 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, seeking $4,945.98.

Mortgage foreclosure

The following actions were filed as mortgage foreclosures for alleged defaults on loans.

Bankunited, c/o 1600 S. Douglas Road, Anaheim, California, filed an action against Scott J. and Heather T. Long, 60 Fig Way, Palmerton, over property at that address. Sought is $175,291.91 and continuing interest.
